Catching up

Good morning. I don't really have any new pictures to share. Just news. As most of you know I have "retired" from the daycare business. I decided that it was time to change careers...it was a very, very hard decision and extremely hard to give up my "kids", but after having last week off and lots of soul searching I know that it was right for me. I have pretty much got my house back to normal...if there is such a thing, no more port a cribs in every bedroom, or high chairs and booster seats circling the dining room table. I did keep a few things for my grandson and nephews to play with when they come to visit, and a baby bed and high chair just in case I get another grandchild in the near future. I had 2 surprise visitors last night.."my girls" Ava and Addison stopped by to see me...I was so glad to see them!!! Mende...stop by anytime, I don't want the girls to forget me!

I am now working at the local restaurant, yes quite a change, but I am really liking it so far...learning a lot. My first day was Monday, only worked a few hours then came home and noticed that Sara had rugs hanging all over her deck outside and knew that this was not good news...her basement had flooded again. So I threw on old clothes and went over to help out, her and Kim had been working hard all day so I wanted to help relieve them a little. Then Joe came over when he got home from work and worked on her guttering downspouts to try and get the water to drain away from the house...so hopefully that will help her. The storms we had Sunday night were horrible and I HATE storms!!

Poor Joe...the coons got into his corn on Friday night...we have lived here for 30 years and never had this problem before...so we have been leaving the outside light on all night and playing a radio...so far they haven't been back, he is going to pick the corn tonight...and let me tell you ...it is oh so yummy!!

Adam began his new job on Monday too, he is still working on campus in a new dining establishment, he will be a student supervisor and I think is really excited about it. He will be starting his Junior year of college this year....jeez...where does the time go. We are also anticipating the Mizzou Football games...and already have our season tickets bought...GO TIGERS! But as most people know I don't go for the football...I am there for the band and 1 special "SOUSAPHONE" player. The first game is August 30th.

Well that's about all I can think of to talk about now. Have a great day!!

Beck Family Reunion

We headed south to Potosi, MO this past weekend for our Beck reunion. This is our second stay at the YMCA Trout Lodge...we have a wonderful time and a busy time. We are planning to go there again in 2 years and the kids have requested that we stay longer. I didn't take as many pictures as I thought I did, but I know Susan will be sending me some that I can add to my blog later, but here are a few of the fun times we had.

Golf with Friends

We spent Sunday evening with our friends Steve, Patty and Chris. The mom's and son's took on the dad's...we had a great time!

Lincoln Co. Fair BBQ Competition

Adam and I participated in the fairs BBQ competition on Saturday. It started out as a beautiful day...we were hit with one storm, but thanks to my dad calling us we were able to lower the canopy and save all our hard work. Thanks dad for keeping us posted. Adam did very well and placed 5th over-all out of 28 teams. And we took 2nd in the pork division with our spinach stuffed pork loin. Not bad for our first year. We are already planning for next year. I had a great time Adam and thanks for including me and I look forward to next year.

Roger

We have a pet rabbit that has been with us for a little over 7 years now, Roger is quite spoiled and loved by us all. Joe tries to turn her out every once in a while to run "free" as he says, he does this against my wishes, I don't want her running off and he usually requires my help to catch her. This has really only happened once. Here is a picture of her enjoying Joe's fresh lettuce from the garden, if you don't give her want she thumps her hind legs at you...like I said very spoiled.

My flowers

My lilies are blooming and beautiful!
This is my lily bed that I am quite proud of.

Joe's Garden

He has trained his cucumbers to climb a fence panel...makes picking so much easier.
Tomatoes..won't be long and I will be making salsa..good thing to, we are using our last jar.
Zucchini..they are very tall..and full of blooms, can't wait for the fried zucchini...yum-o!!!
His corn that is starting to tassel...in between the 4 rows of corn is 2 rows of green beans, which I need to pick today.
Here is pretty much a full view of his garden.
Joe's beautiful garden..this is a shot of his peppers, zucchini, tomatoes and corn.

Crazy Busy!

I know it's been a while since I have posted anything. We have had so much going on. Joe has been in the fields most every night. They are now trying to get all the hay cut and baled, just praying the rain holds off so they can get it all done. They have all the crops in finally. Ah...the life of a farmer's wife...wouldn't have it any other way. His garden is looking beautiful as usual..he just stresses that he doesn't have enough time to work in it like he wants. I believe we finally have our kids settled in, finally. Aaron, Nicole and lil Aaron have moved only 3 blocks from us....I don't know whose happier, me or lil Aaron! And Adam is now living in Columbia, working on Campus in one of the dining halls...he is liking it so far. He is living in a house with Ben and 3 others...so it's cheap rent for him. Last week we had Vacation Bible School...everything went well...I directed it plus taught the preschool class, had a blast as usual...and thankfully lots of help. It was a huge success!
Mom and dad are moving back here too...I can hardly wait, dad has been living up here for a while with my sister, but mom is still down home. At least they have finally bought a place, just need to do some work on the property, then sell their home and get mom moved up here.

Posting a few odds and ends pictures, lil Aaron at his t-ball game. Ava, Addison and Emma playing.
